StaticWorx Bolt ESD Seating

part of the ESD flooring system

The new workplace chair system…is a modern and contemporary chair concept that meets the current and future requirements of modern production and work systems in an exceptional way.

Prof. Dr. Peter Kern,

Fraunhofer IAO Stuttgart

Photograph of a StaticWorx Bolt ESD chairIf you manufacture, handle, or work with or around electronics, static electricity poses a threat to your components and, in some cases, your company’s core mission. Because walking generates static, ESD flooring is the cornerstone of a complete static-protective system. ESD flooring inhibits and dissipates static charges as we walk.

When we sit in a regular (non-ESD) chair – even if the chair sits on an ESD floor – we are no longer grounded. Shifting, removing a sweater or standing from the chair actually generates more static than walking.

That’s why it’s crucial for the chair to be grounded to the floor.

Made with static-dissipative materials, StaticWorx ESD Bolt chairs ground you when you’re seated and prevent charges from building on your body. Static charges move safely and effectively through the body of the chair, from the casters to the ESD floor to ground.

Graphic labelled “Without an ESD floor, an ESD chair is like any other chair - it does not inhibit static.” The illustration underneath shows a woman sitting at a desk with red dots on her body to represent charge being generated. The text underneath reads “With no ESD floor, static charges stay in place, charging both the person and the chair, raising the risk of a damaging ESD event.”
Graphic labelled “ESD Seating - part of an ESD flooring system.” The illustration underneath shows a woman sitting at a desk. A yellow line with red dashes -representing charge being dissipated - runs down her, down the chair she is sitting on and then along to floor to ground (denoted by the ground symbol in three places). The text underneath reads “On an ESD floor, static charges dissipate from the person, through the chair and castors, to the floor, where they are transported safely to ground.”

Why Choose Bolt ESD Chairs?

An illustration showing call center workers at sitting at desks. On the right of the image is a chair in a circle with various parts labelled. The backrest has two labels reading “Permanent contact” and “adjustable backrest”. The chair is labelled “Adjustable depth” and the lever at its base “Adjustable height”. The foot support is labelled “Foot support mounting aid” and the castors are labelled “Static control”.

EXCELLENT ESD PROTECTION

StaticWorx Bolt ESD chairs prevent static charges from building on people when they sit. Rather than building on the person, charges are transported downward through the body of the chair. Conductive casters discharge static to the ESD floor, which transports charges to ground.

StaticWorx ESD Bolt chairs measure < 1 x10E9 ohms and meet all requirements of ANSI/ESD S20.20. Our chairs are also antistatic: in other words, the materials in the chair prevent static generation.

COMFORTABLE & ERGONOMIC

Our ESD Bolt chair offers the best possible support for the body, along with outstanding seating and superior comfort. While Bolt may have a slim appearance, it has very generous seating and back upholstery.

ADAPTABLE

For a chair to adapt to different users it must have many adjustment possibilities, and it is essential that the chair can be used intuitively. This is even more important when different people use the same chair, as is frequently the case in production areas or during shift work.

ADJUSTS FOR ACTIVITIES AND PEOPLE

Repetitive movements can make it hard to find a comfortable sitting position. The Bolt accommodates people working intently at a desk or in front of a computer as well as people who are constantly moving.

Because it adjusts in every possible way, the chair caters to various activities as well as different body sizes and shapes.

ACTIVE BACK SUPPORT

The Bolt’s permanent-contact backrest follows the user’s movements, so the back always remains fulling supported. The seat and backrest move with the body, and the chair’s weight regulation ensures steady balance and resistance.

PERSONALIZED SEATING

Changing upholstery is easy: simply place the upholstery elements on the chair and fix in place with a click. Each upholstery element has a little grip, making the upholstery equally easy to lift and replace.

Quick, easy upholstery change allows different employees to share the same chair, with each person using their own upholstery.

Who Should Use Bolt Chairs?

Any workplace that manufactures, handles, uses or relies on high-speed electronic equipment should consider grounding seated people with ESD chairs.

Key Benefits

Illustration of a StaticWorx Bolt ESD chair, showing the chair back in an upright position but a faded illustration shown the back in a tilted position to demonstrate that it is adjustable.

Adjustable/flexible

  • Large – up to 11 inc – height adjustment
  • Inclined seat provides a seat angle of at least 90° while providing contact with the backrest.
  • Depth adjustment matches depth of the seat to the body, for best back support and contact surface for the thighs.

Supports good posture

  • Backrest height adjustment ensures support in the lumbar region – no matter how tall the person.
  • By adjusting the pressure of the backrest, both light and heavy people sit with the correct posture.

4D armrests

To reduce the strain on the upper body and arms, the height, breadth and depth of Bolt's 4D armrests can be adjusted, and chair can also swivel.
Illustration showing three types of Bolt ESD chairs with heights and widths. The first is black with an orange trim and is shown without upholstery. It is labelled “BOLT 1 (desk height without glides)”. Above the armrest is the label “Optional 4D Arm Rests (adjustable for height, depth, width & angle)”. The second is black with a green trim and is shown without upholstery. It is labelled “BOLT 2 (desk height with castors)”. A faded part of the illustration shows the pack in a titled position (labelled “Active Back Support”). Labels next to the chair base reads “Stop & Go Castors” and “Optional Foot Ring”. The third illustration shows the upholstery and is labelled “Removable Upholstery (available in ESD Fabric, ESD Synthetic Leather, Integral Foam & Ultratec). Next to this is an illustration of a woman putting the padded seat on a chair. The next chair is black with blue trim and is taller than the others. This is labelled “BOLT 3 (lab height with mounting aid & glides). The mounting aid is labelled as such. On the left hand side of the image are two arrows. The bottom one (labelled “17.71-24.40in”) shows the height of the Bolt 1 and Bolt 2 chairs from floor to seat. The top one (labelled “24.44in” shows the height of the chair from the top of the seat to the top of the chair back. On the right hand side of the image are two arrows. The bottom one (labelled “22.22-34.25in”) shows the height of the Bolt 3 chair from floor to seat. The top one (labelled “24.44in” shows the height of the chair from the top of the seat to the top of the chair back.

Foot support and mounting aid

The mounting aid rotates with the seat height adjustment, so is always exactly in the right position. The very large step provides good grip; its height is adjustable, and it can be folded upwards by 90°.

Sustainability

When you need new upholstery, you do not need to dispose of the whole chair.

Economy

  • With a single investment in a chair, you only replace upholstery when necessary.
  • If the Bolt chair is to be used in a different application, only the upholstery needs to be changed.
