In typical EMS environments, the floor takes a lot of abuse. Cart and foot traffic incrementally dull the floor causing dirt and contaminants to become embedded in the tile. Over time, unless you have a well-designed and effectively implemented preventive maintenance program, the hospital shine that attracted you to the floor in the first place fades away and the floor looks soiled and worn.
Never mind that a dingy floor shows poorly and makes a less-than-optimal first impression on visitors and potential clients. Built-up dirt and contaminants insulate electrically conductive components from shoe soles. This means, the ESD floor can no longer drain static from shoe soles as people walk across its surface – and therefore cannot protect electronics from random electrostatic discharge.
To address these problems, many facilities resort to using ESD wax, while installing a different type of floor in new areas.
The Problem with ESD Wax
ESD waxes are not conductive. They are static dissipative and provide only temporary ESD properties. Over time, their static dissipative properties wear off. Without a stringent process to ensure regular resistance testing, it’s impossible to know if the floor is working to protect your equipment. ESD wax can also degrade due to low humidity ambient conditions and heavy traffic. Using ESD wax means a lifelong relationship with the never-ending cycle of wax, test, fail test, strip and rewax.

Tile RESTORE Origin Story
Since the 1980s StaticWorx has sold millions of square feet of ESD tile. We’ve seen 40 year-old tile that looks like glass. And newer tile that looks abysmal and does little or nothing to protect electronics from static.
Not everyone has the budget to replace their ESD tile floor. And in most cases it is absolutely unnecessary. With a few tweaks to our regular SVT cleaning process and lots of testing to ensure reliability, Tile RESTORE was born.
RESTORE offers a maintenance process that’s more cost-effective than wax and far less expensive than replacing an ESD floor that still tests within the ideal resistance range.

EcoScrub ESD floor stripper/degreaser
StaticWorx EcoScrub Floor Stripper is recommended for removing static-dissipative wax and floor finishes, and will remove other non-zinc cross-linked floor finishes. This low odor formula is easy to work with and does not require rinsing.
Specially designed for use with ESD – and non ESD – vinyl tiles or roll goods.
With low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and ultra-low toxicity, our biodegradable EcoScrub stripper/degreaser exceeds nationally accepted green standards.

StaticWorx Formula 20.20 Cleaning/Surfacing Emulsion
StaticWorx Formula 20.20 is a tough-acting, easy-to-use conductive floor cleaner, recommended for tile restoration as well as routine or quarterly cleaning of vinyl tile and all vinyl flooring surfaces. After initial maintenance, reapplication of Formula 20.20 does not require stripping the floor. Simply wash and buff.
Less expensive than ESD finishes or wax, Formula 20.20 provides a shiny, hassle-free finish that seals without affecting the electrical performance of the floor. This means there is no need for constant monitoring or testing the conductivity or static-generating capacities of the ESD surface. Used with StaticWorx Initial Surface Cleaning Pad (natural in color, with black strands), Formula 20.20 micro-cleans the surface of the tile resulting in a clean, high-performance, hospital-like shine. Note: For its initial application, Formula 20.20 should be used only after stripping/degreasing the floor.

Read the entire label or instruction sheet before using this product.
Recommended for removing static-dissipative floor wax.
- Dilute (1:4) 32 oz./gal. or 250 mL/L with cold water.
- Apply solution liberally with mop.
- Allow 4 – 5 minutes contact time. Be sure to keep surface wet at all times. Agitate with a low-speed rotary machine or automatic scrubber (using a stripping pad or brushes).
- Pick up solution using a wet vacuum or automatic scrubber and rinse thoroughly.
- Allow floor to dry completely.

DIRECTIONS
- For initial maintenance scrubbing or strip the floor, using StaticWorx EcoScrub floor stripper.
- Place a StaticWorx cleaning pad (natural in color, with black strands) onto a low-speed floor machine.
- Using the mist setting on a trigger sprayer, mist StaticWorx Formula 20.20 over the area to be cleaned.
- With the low speed machine, distribute the cleaner evenly over the area to be surface cleaned (about a 10’x10’ area at a time) – then begin buffing action.
- Buff the area using an even back and forth motion. Approximately 5 passes per row should properly clean the surface, but take extra passes to assure complete surface uniformity.
- Continue the process until the surface of the entire area has been cleaned and is visually acceptable.
- Repeating the process a second time will maximize cleaning and appearance, if desired.
Note: Never buff in excess of 375 RPM.
