StaticWorx GroundSafe® Loaner Program

What’s better than free?

Loaner equipment to test and certify your new ESD floor.

StaticWorx recognizes that a grounded flooring project isn’t complete until the floor has been thoroughly tested.

At StaticWorx, we have always been ahead of the curve. We’ve always known that grounded flooring materials are not a single component but actually a system that includes not only the floor and copper ground connection, but also the subfloor and all the equipment resting on top of it. With this in mind, in 2011 we launched our GroundSafe® initiative to help clients all over the world examine how their ESD floors interact with their unique environment.

Resistance Variables

It’s a well-known fact that a floor’s resistance can measure completely differently on a bare concrete substrate or a raised access panel than that same floor system measures when tested in a qualification lab. Let’s face it: lab testing a floor you’re evaluating, based on standard test methods, is the bare minimum. You need to know what’s going on in your own space: for example, your concrete could be making your tiles more conductive due to vapor emissions.

You need to know if your raised access panels are providing a high-resistance ground connection and, as a result, your conductive floor is actually a static-dissipative floor. Or vice versa: the static-dissipative floor you specified is integrated into a grounding system that reads in the dissipative range, but under high-voltage equipment becomes highly conductive.

Split illustration titled "Worker on an overly conductive floor". In the illustration on the left side, a worker is crouching touching equipment with a metal tool (labeled "Metal object or tool"). A yellow line shows the path of electricity from the object to ground. A red wire leading from the object is labeled "Short circuit or "live" electrical wire". On the right hand side, the worker is shown receiving a shock.

The Solution Is Easy

StaticWorx will help you perform simple tests, based on industry standards (STM). The tests will enable you to confirm that the floor you got is the floor you expected. The only cost to you is the cost of shipping some lightweight meters. We’ll provide the meters. We’ll provide on the spot – or Zoom – instructions and oversight. All you need to do is take us up on this offer.

Why Groundsafe®?

There’s an old myth in the electrical world: electricity flows to ground through the path of least resistance. In fact, electricity flows to ground through all paths regardless of the resistance of each path.

Using our easy-to-operate equipment, following our GroundSafe® instructions, you will be able to check all of those other grounds – with live instructions from the StaticWorx technical team.

StaticWorx high-performance static-control floors protect electronic components, explosives, and high-speed computers from damage caused by static electricity. ESD flooring is part of a system. Choices should always be based on objective, researched evidence. When you partner with us, we look at all possible items that may need to integrate with the floor, and, focusing on your goals and objectives, help you find the right floor for your application.
