Looking for a durable, attractive, easy-to-install, S20.20-compliant ESD floor at a fraction of the cost of other ESD flooring materials? GroundWorx (GX) Basics is the answer.

Key Benefits

Completed installation of GroundWorx Basics ESD epoxy floor coating

Features

Durable

GroundWorx Basics creates a finished ESD floor that’s stronger and more durable than ESD paint. So strong that it resists damage from forklifts and heavy machinery—making it ideal for warehouses, shipping/receiving areas, and manufacturing spaces.

If the surface does get scratched, GX Basics is quick, easy and inexpensive to repair.

Attractive

GroundWorx Basics is available in a variety of colors with a matte finish. If you prefer a high-gloss shine, simply spread StaticWorx CoatZF floor finish over the epoxy base. While CoatZF does not add any essential ESD properties to GroundWorx Basics and is not necessary for ESD performance—many of our customers prefer the high gloss shine provided by CoatZF to the GX Basics matte finish.

As an added bonus, Coat ZF reduces the time and cost of floor maintenance.

Easy Installation

GroundWorx Basics spreads like paint and can be applied directly over most subfloors, including wood, VCT, coatings and concrete. GX Basics is the only two-part ESD epoxy coating that’s easily applied by novices – in fact, many of our clients apply their GX Basics floor themselves.

Meets ANSI/ESD Guidelines for EPA Protected Areas

GroundWorx Basics offers permanent conductivity and is fully compliant with all recommended guidelines for static-control flooring in an ESD-Protected Area per ANSI/ESD S20.20.

Low COST. high value

With a material cost of < $1.00 per square foot, GroundWorx Basics is an ideal ESD flooring option for low-cost projects and budget-minded clients. It’s also perfect for temporary and leased spaces – or any space in need of an ESD floor where a capital investment doesn’t make sense.

Application and Maintenance

general preparation

Prior to coating, floor surfaces must be free of any release agents, curing compounds, salts or efflorescence. Before applying GroundWorx Basics, sweep and then wash the floor with an appropriate cleaning product to remove oil, grease, and soil. Follow by etching the surface with an etching solution. Then rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Preparing Previously Coated Floors

If the floor has been previously coated, clean a small area, rough up with a screen disk using an 80-grit screen, and then apply sealer to test for adhesion, lifting, etc. Any areas of the existing coating that display poor adhesion should be stripped. Wash the stripped areas, acid etch, and rinse thoroughly. Allow the floor to dry.

Application

Catalyzed GroundWorx Basics should be used within six hours of mixing. Therefore, prepare only the quantity necessary for immediate use. Add pre-measured catalyst to epoxy base. Stir gently until the catalyst has been thoroughly mixed in. Allow catalyzed GroundWorx Basics to stand for 5 minutes. Apply catalyzed GX Basics with a short-nap roller in thin, uniform coats. The initial coat will cover approximately 400-500 ftper gallon. Allow the initial coat to dry for 5-7 hours then apply a second coat. Second coat coverage is approximately 500-600 ftper gallon.

Under normal curing conditions, the finished floor may be opened to light traffic after 12 hours. Complete curing with maximum durability and chemical resistance will take 5-7 days.

Maintenance

Using StaticWorx maintenance products, GroundWorx Basics epoxy is easy to clean and maintain. Simply apply StaticWorx Eco Scrub degreaser, followed by ScrubWorx cleaner, and CoatZF Sealer.

NOTES
Product not recommended for applications that experience reoccurring standing water.
New concrete floors should be allowed to cure a minimum of thirty days before applying any epoxy coating or finish, including StaticWorx GroundWorx Basics.
Application to floors colder than 60°F is not recommended.
